The cult sci-fi film Circle may be getting a sequel.
Fans of LRM know that we have covered the journey of the series Dark/Web extensively on this website. But they may have missed out on the creators’ prior effort — a cult sci-fi film called Circle. In fact, it’s a film whose cult status seems to have taken off enough to inspire a YouTube video that’s hit over 1.3 million views!
In case you didn’t watch the whole 20-minute video, here’s a primer.
In a massive, mysterious chamber, fifty strangers awaken to find themselves trapped with no memory of how they got there. Organized in an inward-facing circle and unable to move, they quickly learn that every two minutes, one of them is executed by a strange device in the center of the room. Soon they realize that, as a group, they have the power to decide who will be the next to be killed by vote. But how can they choose who deserves to die?

The crew behind the first film and the Emmy nominated digital series Dark/Web are in the early stages of development for Circle II. The funny thing about this is that, in spite of our connection to the producers, this news didn’t come from the producers themselves. So, what will the film cover?
Details are sparse, but we do know is that the sequel will take the concept of the first film and put it on a grander scale. More specifically that there would be “more rooms and much more suspense.” While that latter line is certainly subjective, that former isn’t. An increase in scope makes sense, though we are interested in how they’ll pull it off.
