Welcome to another episode of Star Wars Stories with Mark Hamill. The films set within a galaxy far, far away has many memorable lines. From, “May the Force be with you,” to, “I have a bad feeling about this.” And who could forget, “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating. And it gets everywhere.”
Today Mr. Hamill will tell us a ripping good yarn concerning his line from A New Hope, “I can’t hear a thing in this helmet.” Check out Hamill’s tweet below where he confirms the line was originally was off the cuff.

It was not scripted, but I said it when I knew the cameras were rolling. I knew it didn't matter because I had the helmet on & no one could see my face anyway. Everyone liked it, so George let me keep the line in subsequent takes.#TrueStory https://t.co/FvW3U4vRZY

Some of the most iconic lines in film history have been improvised. Oddly enough, Star Wars’ most famous improvised line wasn’t that at all. Now, Harrison Ford did come up with the line, but not as the scene was being filmed. It was during a discussion with The Empire Strikes Back director, Irvin Kershner.
