Daisy Ridley Claims No Plans To Return As Rey In Star Wars

We shared a rumor that the title of the Rey Sequel was Star Wars Episode X: A New Beginning, however this has been debunked.

Star Daisy Ridley claims there’s currently no plans to return as Rey in Star Wars. At least, not that she has been made aware of. These days you can never trust an actor completely as they are told to lie in interviews about certain future plans. However when speaking with THR recently, Ridley said she’s heard nothing about a Rey return. Though the Star Wars star also sounds keen if such a proposition were to come her way.

“I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know,” Ridley says. “But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing.”

This question probably was asked for two main reasons. One, there have been fan rumors that Ridley was in talks to return. I say fan rumors because the only source I found was that Daisy had visited Lucasfilm. However there has also been more credible rumors that the next Star Wars film, produced by Damon Lindelof will be set after The Rise of Skywalker and could feature some of that cast, even if not the leads.

For now though that all remains to be seen. Has Ridley had some talks and they’ve told her not to say anything? Or, has Daisy Ridley genuinely heard nothing about a possible return for Rey? I’m not weighting in either way. My guess would be that Ridley has at least had some conversations about the future with people in Lucasfilm. After all we are now in a Universe where her character is the most powerful being in the Galaxy and looks set to rebuild the Jedi Order in her own way. We all know it was a poor trilogy overall, and most certainly a terrible ending to a Saga it had no business being a part of. Yet, this is now the canon, and if they want to move forward, then?

Frankly George Lucas really should have his own sequel trilogy many years ago when the cast were young enough to pull it off. Disney have to be careful they don’t make the same mistake. Can you imagine Luke, Leia and Han in the early to mid- 90’s? Disney could have and should have started their own saga from episode 1 when they bought Lucasfilm. However they wanted to market the trilogy as the end to the Skywalker Saga. That decision has now really come back to haunt them in terms of both how Skywalker was developed and where to go next.

Should Ridley return? Probably, yes. However hopefully Lucasfilm are smart enough to make sure they get the plans and the writing to work before bring Rey back. We shall see?

Daisy Ridley claims there’s currently no plans to return as Rey in Star Wars. Do we believe her? What would you do with the Rey character going forward, if anything? As always, leave any thoughts below.
