Ludwig Göransson Not Scoring Mando Season 3 – Replaced By Joseph Shirley

Dave Filoni says the MandoVerse can have a big climax AND keep going afterwards.

Some interesting news regarding The Mandalorian hit over the weekend. Ludwig Göransson is not scoring Mando Season 3 and will be replaced by Joseph Shirley. The information comes from Film Music Reporter and it does seem this is accurate with a bit of research.

The outlet says their understanding is that a similar situation to The Book of Boba Fett is happening here. In other words on that show Göransson scored the main themes but Shirley did the rest of the score. This is apparently just because Göransson is so busy with so many projects right now. Shirley has worked with Göransson’s team for a long time. This was also the case with Creed III whereas Göransson had scored the previous two movies in that series. Göransson is currently in high demand and will be scoring, or has scored Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

So don’t worry that the theme of The Mandalorian is going away, it’s not. All Göransson’s main themes he has created can be used again. Therefore this merely means any news pieces of music required for Season 3 will come from Shirley.

Still, there will of course be some fans who prefer Göransson’s own work. For now I am one of them. I felt like the best parts of the score in Boba Fett were the Göransson themes. That being said, I had no major issues with the score, and I’m happy enough to see what Shirley will give us for The Mandalorian S3.

Will you miss Göransson’s stamp? Did you even know about Shirely’s work on Book of Boba Fett before reading this? Are you just not a score person whatsoever instead? Any thoughts about the news Ludwig Göransson is not scoring Mando Season 3 and will be replaced by Joseph Shirley? As always leave it below.
