In a recent interview star Daisy Ridley confirms again that the script for her Rey Sequel movie is still not ready, however she does still expect it to start filming this year or early next year. Answering a question from Collider at a recent SXSW event, talk turned from Ridley’s current movie Magpie to what comes next for her in Star Wars.

First off Ridley was asked if the movie will be titled New Jedi Order, or not?

“I don’t know! I mean, I think so. From the announcement, I don’t think that’s changed.”

To be fair, and Ridley might not realise this, but that was never announced as the title, not once. In fact, Kathleen Kennedy herself referred to the era this movie will start to explore as the New Jedi Order era. That does not mean the movie cannot have that title, or subtitle, but it remains to be seen.

Ridley also reiterated that although she knows the general story, she has yet to read a script.

“I know a script is happening, and I’m going to be reading it imminently, which is very exciting.”

Ridley then went on to talk about when the movie may film. The plan as far as she knows is this year. However, the actor is smart enough to realise it could slip till 2025 for production to begin.

“I think it could be this year. It could be, but I’m not sure. I think to be honest, the writers’ strike has obviously delayed quite a lot of things. So the intention was later this year. Hopefully, it will be. Otherwise, top of next, I would imagine.”

This is not anything surprising. Previously Ridley has told us she hasn’t seen the script yet, but was sold on the rough plotline by Kennedy. We also know that Steven Knight is the writer currently tasked with getting the script ready and this was announced prior to the writers strike.

We also knew the plan was to film this beginning this year. However, if it’s a year later, then it’s a year later. No one wants Lucasfilm to push ahead with this one if the script isn’t up to speed.
