Dan Trachtenberg Confirms ‘Predator’ Film In The Works

It seems that the cat is out of the bag and Dan Trachtenberg is not happy about it.  Late last week Deadline  reported that 20th Century Studios had approached 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg to direct the next Predator film.  While the report was correct it seems that Dan was already working on the project for some time, 4 years to be exact. Fan site Alien vs. Predator Galaxy confirmed the report and also mentioned that this was project was called Skulls before Disney purchased 20th Century.

Dan Trachtenberg shared this tweet after Deadline had broken the news.

Well, Predator fans can rejoice films as another film in the works and it seems that production is further along than we originally thought.  While the follow up films have tried to recreate the magic the original film it has never been replicated. If the report by Alien vs Predator Galaxy is correct then maybe going back to an earlier time period will bring back the aura of the original film.

The films do make a decent return since their budgets are traditionally on the lower side.  According to BoxOfficeMojo the last film in the franchise grossed over $160,000,000 worldwide while operating on a budget of $88,000,000. So with a great return you can see why 20th Century Studios doesn’t mind moving forward with another Predator film.  With the project in a very early stage it is safe to assume that we won’t see this film hit theaters until 2022 or 2023.
