Boxers Daniel Gonzalez and Giovanni Scuderi Talk American Fighter and Give Boxing Tutorial [Exclusive Interview]

American Fighter

American Fighter

In the true spirit of the sport and the release of American Fighter today, two professional boxers, Daniel Gonzalez and Giovanni Scuderi, took the time to promote the film and give our audiences a boxing tutorial.

The film stars George Kosturos in the lead role as a young Iranian college wrestler Ali, who must enter underground fighting tournaments in order to raise money to get his mother out of Iran during the 1980s. Although, he showed promise, he lacked the skills and got bloody during one of the fights. A troubled handler Duke (played by Sean Patrick Flanery) takes pity on the boy and trains him to be a fierce competitor. However, a fight promoter (played by Tommy Flanagan) had other plans for the up and coming fighter. Will it be enough to make Ali a winner?

The film also stars Bryan Craig and Allison Paige.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with the boxers Daniel Gonzalez and Giovanni Scuderi after a boxing demonstration virtually out of Queens, New York. We talked about these fighting movies, the allure, and the meaningful impacts towards boxers as audiences. After the interview, we have a long demonstration clip of future boxers or enthusiasts looking to get into shape.

Danny Gonzalez is from Brooklyn, New York, and started boxing at the age of 16. He got into sport as a way to lose weight at 5 foot 8 inches tall weighing 250 pounds. In two months, he was able to lose 100 pounds due to hard work and discipline. After turning professional, he has a record of 20 victories, 2 defeats, and 7 wins by knockout. Currently, he is in the welter weight division and won the ABO Jaguar Championship and the WBO FECARBOX championship.

Giovanni Christian Scuderi was born in Catania, Sicily. Boxing started for him later in life at the age of 20 as a way to make a mark in his community and the world. During the amateur boxing tournaments, he earned two Golden Gloves before turning professional. Currently, he is in the cruiser weight division with an undefeated record with 5 wins, in which four wins were from knockouts.
