Danny DeVito Joins Jumanji Sequel

Earlier on in the day, we reported on the news that up-and-comer Awkwafina would be joining Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart, and now it looks like the talent won’t be stopping there. Variety is reporting that the one and only Danny DeVito will be joining the sequel to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Sadly, as of right now, his actual role in the film is being kept under wraps.

Of course, film fans will recognize the living legend from such movies as Twins, Get Shorty, Batman Returns, and more. However, for an entire generation of TV fans, he’s one of the main cast members of the FX comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is currently in its 13th season on the show. DeVito is also playing a role in the upcoming Dumbo film.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle hit theaters back in December of 2017 to both critical and fan acclaim. Despite going up against Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it managed to take in a hefty $962 million worldwide. Jake Kasdan is returning to direct the currently-untitled sequel and will be writing the script alongside franchise vets Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.
