Amazon Studios Releases A New Trailer For Cold War

Early Friday, Amazon Studios released a new trailer for their latest film Cold War, starring Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot. The film is written and directed by filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski (IdaMy Summer Of Love). IMDb has the synopsis for the film listed as follows:

A passionate love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, who are fatefully mismatched and yet condemned to each other. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950s in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, the film depicts an impossible love story in impossible times.

Pawlikowski is a multiple award winner for his previous works, including BAFTA’s Best Film Not in the English Language award for Ida and the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film for My Summer Of Love. His standing alone makes the film worthy of receiving wide international marketing. Additionally, the film’s trailer focuses on the performances of its main stars, especially Kulig. Her role as Zula is referred to as “riveting to watch” and having delivered an “incandescent performance.”

Moreover, from viewing the trailer alone, one can notice the simply stunning cinematography of each shot in this film. Cinematographer Lukasz Zal, who worked with Pawlikowski on Ida, delivers stunning black and white shots throughout the trailer. Whether its the main characters standing out in a sea of people or wide span shots of the vast scenery, Zal provides a beautiful picture for what is bound to be an emotionally draining piece of art.
