Daredevil Season 3 Trailer: Has Daredevil Become The New Villain?

Daredevil has been presumed dead for some time now — ever since the conclusion of The Defenders. Between that show and the end of Season 2 of Daredevil, there were a couple potential routes it could go next. With this new trailer dropping for the impending third season of the show, it looks like they’re going all-out ambitious, incorporating multiple plotlines.

However, unlike the Season 2, they look to be keeping things personal. The main thread seems to revolve around a jaded Matt Murdock, who is starting to doubt is former ways. Perhaps Punisher had it right and there was only one way to truly eliminate evil. Meanwhile, his arch nemesis, Kingpin, has just gotten out of prison and is dedicated to bringing Daredevil down (hello, Born Again-inspired storyline), but rather than just freeze his assets, he looks to sully his good name by hiring a copycat Daredevil.

Below is the official synopsis to Daredevil Season 3:

“Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.”

This story has the potential to really get overly-convoluted and silly, but I do love how personal they are making this. Forget the Hand. Forget city-ending stakes. This is about Matt Murdock, his broken spirits, and the journey he’ll take to hopefully become the man we want him to be.
