Dave Bautista Decided Not To Read The Avengers: Infinity War Script

There are a few fans who eat up spoilers like Galactus eats planets, but many of us, myself included (I learned a hard lesson with Han Solo), try to be as spoiler free as possible going into a movie. Dave Bautista is a self-proclaimed fanboy. Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in Avengers: Infinity War, was recently asked on Twitter what were his thoughts after reading the script for the film. Bautista replied saying he actually did not read the script.

Bautista has only been part of the Marvel Cinematic universe for a few years, and judging by his response, it is likely he was a fan of the MCU before he became Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, and his decision shows that even though he is now part of it, he wants to stay a fan.

Many actors choose not to watch their own movies, for one, Johnny Depp comes to mind. Actors of this mindset usually cite it simply being weird to watch themselves. Here we have Bautista, who actually wants to watch a movie he is acting in, with as little knowledge as possible, just as many movie fans do. It should be noted that it may prove much more difficult for someone like Depp to watch himself on screen for two hours, as opposed to Bautista who is a part of an extravagant ensemble in which screen time will be in high demand.

Marvel has been incredibly secretive with details pertaining to Avengers: Infinity War, so while they have no worry with leaks from Bautista, at least he had a choice whether or not to read the script as some members of the cast were not given a script at all.

What are your thoughts on Dave Bautista not reading the Avengers: Infinity War script? If you were an actor, would you watch yourself in movies?
