Dave Chappelle is Asking His Fans Not To Watch Chappelle’s Show On Any Streaming Services

According to Variety Comedian Dave Chappelle is asking his fans to boycott Chappelle’s Show. The comedian found himself in bewilderment when he learned that his wildly popular sketch show that aired on Comedy Central from 2003-2006 was available to stream on Netflix. Chappelle and the streaming giant have had a mutually beneficial working relationship over the last few years and the streaming giant took Chappelle’s Showdown at Dave’s behest. As the comedian explains below.

“That’s why I like working for Netflix. They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better.”

Chappelle says he didn’t receive compensation or authorize any streaming deals. The comedian says he signed a handsome contract with  but has never been paid. Check out what he had to say below.

“They didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract. But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ’cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either.”

Chappelle’s Show is still available through other streaming services such as CBS All Access, HBO Max, and Comedy Central. The comedian has asked his fans not to watch his show on these services but clarified he wasn’t asking for a boycott of the streaming platforms as a whole, only Chappelle’s Show.

“If you ever liked me, if you ever think there was anything worthwhile about me. I’m begging you, please don’t watch that show. I’m not asking you to boycott any network — boycott me. Boycott Chappelle’s Show. Do not watch it unless they pay me.”

I’m going to leave the commentary to you folks on this one. All I will say is Chappelle is the G.O.A.T in my opinion. Although, if someone countered that with Richard Pryor, I wouldn’t tell them they were wrong.

You can find Chappelle’s Instagram post where he initially mentioned the situation below.
