Dave Filoni Comments On Possibility Of Recasting Baylan Skoll After Tragic Passing

Dave Filoni comments on the possibility of recasting Baylan Skoll due to the tragic passing of actor Ray Stevenson for the first time.

Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni comments on the possibility of recasting Baylan Skoll due to the tragic passing of actor Ray Stevenson for the first time. Skoll was one of the main villains in the Ahsoka Disney+ series. However, Stevenson passed away shortly before the show released. The series certainly made it seem like there is more to come from Baylan’s story.

Speaking with Vanity Fair recently Filoni indicated there’s story still to be told. Therefore, they are in a wait and see phase right now with that decision.

“Obviously, there’s a story there. We’re in a wait and see pattern at this point. But I’m glad the conversation is about Ray and how great he was. I used to have little mini debates with him and say, ‘Ray, you’re the villain here.’ And he’d be like, ‘I don’t think so.’ I was like, ‘I know you don’t think so, but you are. I love that you’re playing it like you’re not.’ Which is exactly the way Baylan thinks.”

Filoni went on to comment on the fact Stevenson never got to see his character become a favorite among fans.

“I think he would’ve been over the moon. The big regret here is that he didn’t get to experience that. I’m glad he was at Star Wars Celebration with us, that he got to see the trailer and get a taste of that from the fans. And they’ve been nothing but wonderful about Ray and the character.”

As covered in this story Here, Filoni was recently promoted to the role of CCO at Lucasfilm. So far there is no indication of whether Ahsoka will get a season 2. However, one would imagine it’s likely given the story points left hanging. Hardly my favorite Star Wars show to date, I felt like Ahsoka needed a big dose more story and development as opposed to action set pieces.

As Season 2 could be a lot better than Season 1. However, I’d not be all that excited by it myself.

It is a damn shame about Stevenson, not just for this role, because he was a great actor. However, I guess bigger roles have been recast, so the show must go on as they say.

What do you think as Dave Filoni comments on the possibility of recasting Baylan Skoll for the first time, due to the tragic passing of actor Ray Stevenson? Thoughts below as usual.
