David Ayer Explains How His Suicide Squad Got Ripped To Pieces By The Studio

Suicide Squad got ripped to pieces by the studio says director David Ayer. It’s not hard to believe since I’ve seen the movie and someone definitely murdered it. However we have known for some time that Suicide Squad had some serious meddling from the studio. Essentially the movie that was in theaters was very different from the movie David Ayer set out to make. The director recently spoke about the situation on social media

As you can see, Ayer then went on to describe the the climate at that time. BvS was not loved by the critics or most of the fans, whereas Deadpool was a tremendous success. Major elements were then removed from Ayer’s cut, with John’s finally rewriting the script and getting him to shoot it.

Suicide Squad got ripped to pieces

It’s pretty clear that Ayer still holds a grudge about what happened. I think I would do to. It’s Ayer’s name that’s on that movie as director and it ends up being nothing like the film he tried to make. That would certainly grind my gears. I guess this is something many filmmakers have felt when dealing with Studios. Then again, sometimes the studio meddling in the past had produced absolute classics. Normally though, it’s best to let that talent do what talent does, and leave the suits to make deals and talk money.

There has been many calls from fans looking to see the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. Sadly it seems like there is no desire from either WB, nor Ayer to get back into bed over this movie. For now all we can do is look to the future and The Suicide Squad coming form James Gunn. Given Gunn’s success it seems he was allowed to do what he wanted on this sequel/reboot movie. So far The Suicide Squad looks like tremendous fun, and I cannot wait to see it. Suicide Squad, that’s a movie i’ll gladly never watch again.
