David Ayer Gives His Definitive Stance Regarding His Suicide Squad Cut

“Walk a mile in another person’s shoes.” It’s a saying we all know. Most try to recall it and apply it in our lives. However, in the day of social media an onslaught of criticism can be found instantaneously. While praise can also occur in the same way, we often see the criticism nonetheless. Take David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad. The hype and marketing is amazing. The trailer edits with the music mash-up made fans extremely excited. The result is not what most expected. Blame usually goes to the director, which in this case it has. However, Ayer recently provides his view on the matter, and it is quite eye-opening.

With the upcoming release of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, anticipation is following. With the excitement, obvious comparisons and criticisms are coming out regarding David Ayer’s version. There has also been the idea of Ayer’s Director’s Cut as well. This follows the relative success of Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cut of JL. This makes sense especially since Ayer expresses that what we got in 2016 is not his actual vision. David Ayer give his final take on the criticism he receives in response to individuals calling for the Director’s Cut to not be released due to Gunn’s version being superior:

There is definitely a good deal to unpack there. David Ayer’s experiences cannot be overlooked. I appreciate his transparency and his justification for why he refuses to quit. He still talks about Suicide Squad not being his entire vision. However, it is commendable that he gives his backing to the success of Gunn and the studio, and wishes them well.
