If you ever wondered what went wrong with David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad, then the past few weeks have been quite entertaining. The future release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut has led to many fans turning their attention to Task Force X. Ayer himself has not been shy about wanting to release his cut of the film, but also explaining what went wrong.

Yesterday we got another little nugget of information on something that was tinkered with in Suicide Squad. About a month ago Ayer has confirmed that Jard Leto’s Joker had got his metal teeth and “Damaged” tattoo after the beatdown Batman gave him for the murder of Robin.

Then after when he is sent to Arkham Asylum, he meets Margot Robbie’s Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Soon after she makes her transformation into Harley Quinn. The problem with the timeline that we see in the film is that Harley’s introduction states that she was an “accomplice to the murder of Robin.” This contradicts the timeline that Ayer had planned in the film.

Once again responding to a Tweet, Ayer responded to the timeline issue. He stated that it was Geoff Johns, an executive producer on the film, that added that information to the film. This disrupted the continuity that Ayer had planned for the film with Harley and Joker. You can check out the Tweet below!

It’s interesting how much Warner Bros. changed Suicide Squad and Justice League. This is something that can one day in the future be put into a nice documentary. They can explore how much executives panicked over trying to be like Marvel Studios. Hopefully like the Synder Cut, we can see David Ayer’s full Suicide Squad vision one day.
