DC Comics “Drowned Earth” Event Offers Aquaman Variant Covers

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Aquaman, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson, is only a few months away. With that said it is obvious that the studio will begin to heavily promote the film. Especially with the competition from Bumblebee and the PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2. One of their promotions will come in November during the DC comics event Drowned Earth that will take place in the pages of Justice League as well as Aquaman, where each of the books will have a Aquaman variant cover inspired by the film.

Here is a quick synopsis of the event provided by DC Comics:
“Get ready for a soggy Thanksgiving at the Hall of Justice (as in underwater, like the rest of the world will be) when the award-winning writer is joined by the JUSTICE LEAGUE crew of writer Scott Snyder with artists Howard Porter, Francis Manapul and Frazer Irving, plus the AQUAMAN team of Dan Abnett and Lan Medina. Together they’ll pit the League against a race of ancient and long-forgotten sea gods and an army of alien mercenaries, reveal shocking secrets about Arthur’s legacy, and thwart a plot to flood the planet and turn people into aquatic monsters in JUSTICE LEAGUE/AQUAMAN: DROWNED EARTH.”

The event starts kicks off on October 31st with Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth #1 by Tynion IV and Howard Porter and will conclude on November 28th in Aquaman/Justice League: Drowned Earth #1. The first and last issue will be 48 pages long. In between the event will also take place in the pages November’s Justice League issues and Aquaman.

Each of these issues will have a variant cover as stated above by a a number of artists including Francis Manapul, Francesco Mattina, Lucio Parillo, Ben Oliver, Dale Keown and Nicola Scott. These variants spotlight Jason Momoa as well as Amber Heard in comic curate costumes. Check out the covers below via PreviewsWorld.
