Are you ready for another female-led DC film? Well, ready or not, here it comes. Over the past month or two, there have been some solid production rumors surrounding Birds of Prey, the upcoming adaptation of the DC property, which would feature Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in a substantial role. The film was supposedly eyeing a January 2019 start date, which, if true, would hint at a 2020 release date.

Now, a new report from Deadline seems to be confirming that. According to the outlet, Warner Bros. is set to release Birds of Prey on February 7, 2020. Nothing is confirmed at this point, but given all the different sources pointing to different bits of information, this seems like it could very well be true.

From what we’ve heard, Birds of Prey, will see Harley Quinn team up with Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. That young girl is none other than Cassandra Cain, a character who, in the comics, takes up the mantle of Batgirl. It’s worth noting that the writer seems to be following up this story with a Batgirl movie, so it seems likely this could lead into that.

In the villain role is none other than Gotham City mob boss Black Mask, who will be making his big screen debut in the movie. Helming the film is indie film director Dead Pigs Cathy Yan, an unlikely, but interesting choice.
