Some DCU news including that Paramount plan to keep Gunn/Safran in charge if the merger goes through and Man of Tomorrow wraps filming. Let’s being with the will they, won’t they of the Paramount and WB merger. The deal was of course agreed, but there has been strong opposition to the move domestically and globally.
According to TheWrap, Paramount insiders have told them that the intention is to keep James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of DC Studios. Of course, that’s if it all goes through. I guess we shall see?
Much of that may depend on how much of a success Man of Tomorrow is from James Gunn himself. The film see’s Superman, Lex, Green Lantern, Supergirl and more all up against Brainiac. It feels like a semi-event movie. Like a Civil War feeling like Avengers 2.5, perhaps this will feel like Justice League 0.5?

Supergirl was a flop, Superman was a modest success, but so far the TV output has ben really strong overall. DC Studios needs a proper box office hit though and they will hope that’s Man of Tomorrow.
The film officially wrapped principal photography yesterday as per James Gunn’s post on Threads.
“That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow. Truly a joyful experience and I have immense gratitude to my cast and crew. First photo: nicholashoult jumped in the lake after last shot. Second photo: The brain trust (except Brian) around video village during the whole shoot. They make making movies fun.”
The film will of course now go into post-production, so no rest for Gunn himself as the film is due in theatres July 9, 2027.
