EA announced yesterday a Dead Space remake coming from Motive Studio. Dead Space was first released away back in 2008, and it was a hit game. At the time I played Dead Space upon release and it was one of those games so good I replayed it on the hardest difficulty fairly quickly after an initial completion.
The remake of Dead Space is being billed as a complete rebuild and modernization from the ground up. This is not just a 4K makeover of the original game. Check out the brief but interesting teaser trailer below. Note that the Dead Space remake will only be released for Ps5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.

Dead Space was followed by two sequels and things steadily got worse. The first game was pure survival horror mixed with some shooting. In the game we play Isaac Clarke, an engineer and the weapons he utilizes are predominantly makeshift engineering tools. However these tool can be upgraded at various work benches to increase the character power as the game progresses. It was a also a great story with lots to explore and discover.
Dead Space 2 was pretty much, lets do it again, but throw a ton more enemies at you in waves. The gameplay was ok, but I felt like the story was just pointless and written around the mechanics rather than the other way around like the first game.

Dead Space 3 was trash, one of the few games I have switched off mid-way through out of disgust and never gone back to. Dead Space 3 was also two-player and I began it playing with a friend who also loved the previous games. Sadly Dead Space 3 was the result of developers trying to capitalize on the success and change the game from being survival horror to action, which traditionally makes more money. The rest as they say, is history because there was no rest. The franchise was dead and buried after Dead Space 3.
If this Dead Space remake is popular I’d love for them to remake the sequel with a better story and just make their own version of Dead Space 3 without any inspiration from the game itself. I guess we will see, remakes are popular, but not as popular as original games. Myself I’m more likely to wait until this is available through Xbox Game Pass than purchase it on release. Being this is an EA game, it should be on EA Access (part of Game Pass) within around 8 Month’s time after release.
