Deadpool 3 Could Have Been A Road A Roadtrip With Wolverine

Kevin Feige recently revealed that Deadpool 3 will be rated R and be the Merc with the Mouth’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One thing the film won’t have is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds has spent the last few years trying to convince Jackman to return as the character to no avail.

Reynolds revealed in a tweet today what the plot of Deadpool 3 would have been a Deadpool and Wolverine road trip. You can check it out below.

What a swan song for Wolverine that would have been. It makes Reynolds not being able to talk Jackman into returning, and Wolverine’s absence that much bigger of a bummer. Now we’re going to miss out on what I can only imagine would have been “Fear and Loathing in the MCU.”

Deadpool may someday get to take that trip with Wolverine. Unfortunately, it won’t be with Hugh Jackman in the role. And while that may be fun in its own right, it just won’t be the same. A new Wolverine character and this iteration of Deadpool would have no history, yet. Certainly, who ever ends up playing Wolverine will not have the same relationship with Ryan Reynolds that Hugh Jackman had. Whilst we can look on this sadly, we can also still look forward to some new stories with both characters. Who knows whether this idea could resurface further down the line?
