Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy says no title for the movie has been chosen yet, but it likely won’t be Deadpool 3. This is hardly a big shock and I don’t think anyone felt the title of the film would be Deadpool 3. Rumors were that the tile may be Deadpool and Wolverine: (subtitle). However, in a recent appearance on BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast Levy says that’s all still up in the air. Therefore, any rumors you read are just that. As yet, no title has been chosen.
“No, there’s no title yet. I sometimes refer to it as Deadpool vs Wolverine or Deadpool and Wolverine or Deadpool 3 With Wolvie — we’ve got a few titles we’ve been bandying about, but boy, it’s a tough one.”
LRM will keep calling it Deadpool 3 until we get an official, or strongly rumored title. I mean, we have to call it something.
In the same podcast appearance Levy also pointed out that for Ryan Reynolds and him, Logan is canon.
“I have always said that I can’t wait for Deadpool 3 to come out because all I want to do is give interviews alongside Ryan where we talk about our reverence for the movie Logan. Logan is canon. We love Logan. That happened. I want the world to know, as the producer and director, all of us share a deep love and respect for Logan, every aspect of how it’s crafted, and all the events that take place.”

We already kinda knew this from a few different quotes in the aftermath of Jackman’s return. To be fair, there really is no reason to touch on Logan at all. With the TVA involved, and thus the Multiverse, this version of Wolverine can be from any other timeline than Logan.
In a separate interview with Wired, Levy said the plan is to shoot Deadpool 3 as soon as the SAG-AFTRA Strikes end.
“Just to say the obvious, my passionate hope is that by the time anyone reads this article these two strikes will be over, and we as an industry will be back to work, including Hugh [Jackman, who is reprising his role as Wolverine] and Ryan and me and our several hundred crew members who were in the literal middle of filming Deadpool. I’m really hopeful that we get to a legitimately fair, equitable resolution soon.”
“Within weeks of the strikes ending we will be back in the United Kingdom shooting the second half of Deadpool.”
However, unless you’ve not been following along, the current rumor is that if not agreed this week, the strikes will last till at least January 24. So you can pretty much forget any release in the first two thirds of 2024.
Deadpool in the MCU
Finally, Levy told Wired how excited he and Reynolds are to get to play in the MCU sandbox before adding;
“I’ll simply say the whole challenge and North Star priority on this movie was to embrace and take advantage of membership in the MCU without sacrificing or abandoning the raw, gritty, grounded DNA of Deadpool. It’s very much still the Deadpool we all love, but with many new opportunities.”
So, that’s your Deadpool 3 update from Shawn Levy folks. No title for the movie has been chosen yet, but it likely won’t be Deadpool 3. What do you think of director Shawn Levy’s comments about the movie? Thoughts below as always.
