We’re less than two weeks away from the blockbuster release of a film that once had zero chance of getting made. Coming off the negative momentum of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, poor Ryan Reynolds had to go to the lowest of depths to play Hal Jordan in GREEN LANTERN before making his way back to the merc with the mouth. The leaked test footage set everyone on fire, somehow giving the idea of a DEADPOOL film more momentum than it’s ever had before.

So far, Ryan Reynolds has donned that Deadpool costume at least a dozen times throughout the marketing campaign. From the original trailer teaser to the BACHELOR ad, and the more recent Australia Day viral video, the actor seems to be right at home in the guise of mr. Wade Wilson. But if you thought the marketing campaign for this film was over yet, you were wrong, as Fox has just released another viral video of him getting in touch with his Chinese roots and celebrating the year of the monkey.

Upon first watching, I thought perhaps this was being aimed at mainland China, as the subtitles with Chinese characters seemed to be a dead giveaway (I know, dumb me). But as we reported some time ago, the film was recently denied release in China due to its graphic nature. While this would seem intentionally ironic, it’s important to note that while the film will not be released in mainland China, it will still be released in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The synopsis for DEADPOOL is as follows:

“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”
