Deadpool 2 reclaimed the top spot for an R-rated film on a Thursday night by pulling in over $18 million. The first Deadpool film held the record at 12.7 million in 2016, before being overtaken by last year’s IT, which narrowly beat the first Deadpool film, coming in at 13.5 million. I don’t think these numbers surprise anyone and Deadpool 2 is almost guaranteed to finally knock fellow comic book film, Avengers: Infinity War off the top of the box-office charts. The movie debuted in over 4300 theaters across the United States and is expected to pull in around $130 million over the weekend.

Deadpool 2 will bring in some new characters some of which are likely to carry over the X-Force movie that Drew Goddard is currently writing. As well as the box-office numbers, the early reviews and reactions for the film are mostly positive, with special attention being given to the mid and post-credits scenes of the film. I still haven’t seen the film, I’ve been dodging spoilers all day while writing articles like Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix.
The film is directed by David Leitch from a script written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reynolds also stars in the film along with Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, and Morena Baccarin. Also appearing are Terry Crews and T.J. Miller.
