Deadpool Writer Rhett Reese Wants To See An R-Rated X-Force Film

Deadpool opened the door for both hilarity and vulgarity in a comic book movie. Now with Deadpool 2 bringing in some potential X-Force characters, one writer on the film, Rhett Reese says he sees an X-Force film as the Deadpool version of X-Men.

“I think the fun part of X-Force is they’re much more morally flexible than the X-Men. They can get their hands dirty a little bit. There’s more grey area. It’ll be raunchier, it’ll be rated R, I’m sure. We’ll get to see an ensemble movie that’s pushed, hopefully, as far as the Deadpool individual movie was pushed.”

With the first Deadpool film acting as proof on concept that R-rated comic book movies can be successful the idea of an R-rated X-Force movie should easily come to fruition. Since X-Force will essentially be launched from Deadpool 2 it only seems natural that the tone of Deadpool’s world would transfer over to X-Force. The decision for whether or not the X-Force film keeps in line with the Deadpool film is ultimately up to Drew Goddard who is writing the film, though it is likely he will meet with Reynolds, Reese, and Wernick to discuss where the film should go.
