Deadwood Movie Could Shoot This Fall

At long last, some progress is finally being made on the Deadwood movie. The popular HBO Western series ran for three seasons from 2004- 2006. While the show didn’t leave fans hanging in a big way, it didn’t completely wrap up either, and left something to be desired by viewers. While speaking with Deadline, Casey Bloys, HBO president, said that if everything falls into place as far as the cast, it’s possible that the Deadwood film could shoot this fall:

“Assuming that we could get all the actors back together, I think this is something we would do possibly next fall, fall 2018.”

I am hopeful that schedules can be worked out and this movie gets made, as not long ago, I rewatched the show, and for me, Deadwood holds up. A good story, with a great cast that included Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Paula Malcomson and Robin Weigert. One of the grittier and more vulgar (the show is well known for its heavy use of curse words, two in particular) takes on the Old West, Deadwood provides compelling entertainment built around the famous real town of Deadwood, South Dakota and loosely uses actual people for the basis of their characters.
