Death Note 2 Is Apparently Alive And Well

While director Adam Wingard did the best he could with that Death Note movie, it didn’t exactly set the fan base on fire with confidence. I personally enjoyed the film as an alternate take of the story, but could understand the annoyance at how little it resembled what we got in the original manga. But still, the film apparently did well enough for Netflix to warrant a sequel.

The streaming giant hired writer Greg Russo, but there haven’t been any real updates for some time now, and as many of us know, projects usually die quietly. Does this mean we won’t be getting to see the continued battle between Light and L?

Greg Russo replied to a fan on Twitter, where he assured us that the franchise was alive and well.

“Appreciate all the check ins from #DeathNote fans. Have something very cool in the works for the franchise- can’t talk about it yet but it’s def alive and in good hands 😉 🍎”

While there are plenty of issues with the original movie, I’m eager to see how they continue the story. With that first one missing a lot of the cat-and-mouse aspects that made the manga so special, I hope the new film would actually focus on this struggle between the two leads.
