RUMOR – Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sequel Planned For 2020 Release

At this past E3’s Nintendo Direct, the Big N surprised audiences with an unexpected teaser for a sequel to their big 2017 juggernaut, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel. In the same way that Majora’s Mask twisted the tone of Ocarina of Time, this sequel looked to be much darker than its predecessor, digging into the creepier side of Hyrule. But when could fans expect it?

Nintendo is never one to rush out their product. In fact, for decades, they have become as well-known for their long delays as they are for their great games. As such, I wasn’t expecting this until 2021 at the earliest, but we may have an indication that they could be putting it out sooner.

Twitter leaker Sabi recently put out a series of tweets, and in them, they said:

“I would tell you Botw2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly LOL.

“This isn’t speculation, just current plans.”

Of course, as even Sabi acknowledges, this is just what they’re hoping to do internally at Nintendo, and could very well be pushed back, as they tend to do. Considering how long they delayed the original Breath of the Wild, I can’t really blame them for keeping the lid on this release date.

Either way, if this is true, this does at least indicate that they’re pretty darn far along in the development, and like many fans, I’m waiting on pins and needles to see what adventure the game will offer.
