Death Note Manga with Donald Trump meeting Ryuk

Death Note manga is back as a new one-shot story.

The one-shot introduces a new lead to the franchise named Minoru Tanaka, a boy selected by the Shinigami. The boy takes the Death Note and attempts to sell it to the highest bidder.

One of those bidders will be President Donald Trump, who may or may not have his nefarious purpose in acquiring the Death Note.

Light Yagami died in the original series, but Ryuk is back this time around. As always, Ryuk attempts to manipulate the situation with Tanaka, President Trump, and everyone else in the world.

Death Note 12-volume manga series sparked a popular 37-episode anime series, video games, a novel and eventually developed into a live-action made-for-Netflix movie.

Here’s the description of the original series:

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects, and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But will Light succeed in his noble goal, or will the Death Note turn him into the very thing he fights against?

Tsugumi Ohba created Death Note with illustrations provided by Takeshi Obata.

Death Note one-shot manga features other cameos, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Near, Matsuda, Halle Lidner, Anthony Rester, Armonia Justin, and Midora.

Will this spark another season for the animated series for Death Note? Given a good fanbase for the series, that’s a possibility. As for a sequel for a live-action movie, the jury is still out due to the mixed reviews. However, there are hints and indications from Netflix that this project may still be alive.

The 87-page one-shot is available on Viz Media here.
