You don’t have to be a fan of Hideo Kojima to know his new video game for the PS4 is on the way. Hell, you could be a fan of director Guillermo Del Toro’s Shape of Water, The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, or even Doctor Strange’s Mads Mikkelsen. Since they’re all portraying various characters in Death Stranding. Norman Reedus is Sam Porter Bridges, Mads Mikkelsen is Cliff, Del Toro is Deadman. In addition, the cast includes a Heartman and a Die-Hardman, played by Nicolas Winding Refn and Tommie Earl Jenkins respectively.
All of them get a bit of time to shine in the gorgeous trailer for the upcoming bl0ckbuster game. Actually, the word “trailer” may be a bit of a misnomer, as it is more akin to what some might call a short film. Clocking in at just over eight minutes long, the trailer serves up a healthy dose of the classic Kojima themes of warfare and love. Fans who have wracked their brains over the cryptic PS4 exclusive title will be happy as this is by far the best look we’ve seen of Death Stranding. Though Kojima had been releasing hints that required Sherlock Holmes levels of deduction and sprung forth more theories than a flat earth. This is the most definitive look at Death Stranding thus far.
This game looks completely imaginative and bad-ass. That go-go gadget ladder Reedus fires off looks like it will come in handy connecting Reedus to inaccessible areas. I am intrigued by the focus on building bridges in multiplayer. Kojima seems to have upped the ante for a character driven dramatic action game. What did you think of the trailer? Did you dig the final shot of the bad-ass mercs? Will you pick up a copy on November 8?
