The trailer for “Descendants: The Rise of Red” was unveiled by “Good Morning America” and Disney+. This new installment in the “Descendants” series will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, July 12, with a special encore on Disney Channel scheduled for Friday, August 9, at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT.
In this latest chapter, Uma, a former Villain Kid (VK) and now the principal of Auradon Prep, extends an invitation to another VK, Red. Red, the rebellious daughter of Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts, finds herself in the spotlight as she teams up with Chloe, Cinderella’s daughter, to travel back in time. Their mission is to prevent a coup incited by the Queen of Hearts and to alter the event that led to Red’s mother becoming a villain.
The film features an impressive cast including Brandy, Rita Ora, Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, China Anne McClain, Jeremy Swift, Dara Reneé, Ruby Rose Turner, Morgan Dudley, Paolo Montalban, Melanie Paxson, Leonardo Nam, Joshua Colley, and Peder Lindell.
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” will debut seven new original songs. Fans can also look forward to reprises of the hit “What’s My Name” from “Descendants 2” and the classic “So This is Love” from “Cinderella.” The soundtrack, composed by Torin Borrowdale and featuring choreography by Ashley Wallen, will be released on July 12 and is currently available for preorder and pre-add.

Directed by Jennifer Phang and written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” boasts an impressive production team. Executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh are joined by co-executive producers Mahita P. Simpson and Phang, with Wendy S. Williams as the producer. The film’s visual appeal is enhanced by Mark Hofeling’s production design, Katie Ennis’s editing, and costume designs by Julia Caston and Emilio Sosa. Declan Quinn serves as the director of photography.
