Some Star Wars Barside Buzz today with a description of Andor Season 2’s rumored ‘No Russian’ scene. The information today comes from the folks over at Bespin Bulletin. The outlet says they have heard some details around a scene from Season 2. A scene they describe as being inspired by Call of Duty‘s famous ‘No Russian’ scene in Modern Warfare 2.
‘Last year I was told of a scene shot for Andor season two that was described to me as feeling like Andor’s “no Russian”, a reference to an infamous scene from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I was told of a location that had a cafe on one side which had Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor sitting in, there was also an alien with a lizard type creature as a pet, and a hotel possibly on the other. In the middle there were steps and in front of those steps were a group of civilians. Eventually Stormtroopers make their way down the steps and begin blasting those in front of them, killing the civilians.’

‘I don’t know if it was in reference to this scene, but I was told by a single source that Tony Gilroy and the Andor writing team were taking real world inspiration for season two, just as they did for season one, and that one of the inspirations was the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.’
Interesting if true, and it would fit right at home tonally with Andor. Or at least what tone was set within Season 1, which we assume will continue in Season 2.
Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ April 22, 2025. I cannot wait to see what Tony Gilroy has in store for us after the phenomenal Season 1.
