Despite Its Absence From Bob Iger’s Statement Blade Is Not Cancelled Or Delayed Again – Yet

Despite its absence from Bob Iger’s earnings statement, no, Blade is not cancelled or delayed again, at least not yet. Many, many outlets have run a story questioning Blade‘s status because of its omission from a statement Disney CEO Bob Iger made yesterday.

Iger was talking about upcoming movies in 2025. Here is the statement he made below regarding the Q3 Fy24 earnings for Disney jointly with CFO Hugh Johnston.

“Looking at our upcoming theatrical slate, we are excited to bring audiences a number of titles that expand our popular franchises and bring these stories to life in imaginative new ways. Later in the year, we have the highly anticipated release of Moana 2, as well as Mufasa: The Lion King. In 2025, our theatrical slate remains just as robust, with Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Zootopia 2, and Avatar 3. And in 2026, we look forward to Avengers: Doomsday, a new Star Wars movie featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu, and Toy Story 5– the first Toy Story movie since 2019.”

As you can see there is no mention of Blade. However, the movie is still scheduled on the official slate by Disney as November 7, 2025. Now, before we jump to conclusions, here are some other currently officially scheduled movies that were not mentioned in that statement. Elio, Snow White, Tron: Ares, or The Amateur. Are they all delayed/cancelled? Unlikely given all are way ahead of Blade.

Look, I’m not saying Blade won’t get delayed. In fact I like many other predicted it would. Soon as we saw how many other Marvel movies there was in 2025. All of which are in production. However, you know how fans get. This is now a sign that ‘Disney won’t officially delay it, because it’s been completely canned. That’s it, no Ali, bring back Snipes, etc, etc.’ All I am saying is that actually, given the context it makes perfect sense for Iger not to mention every single movie. It may also make sense if there is a chance of Blade moving into 2026, which I think we all believe is likely. If so, Iger may be privy (likely is) to that, but a decision hasn’t yet been made.

Feige talked about Blade prior to SDCC. He said they are now moving ahead having found a new writer and creatives. Another Marvel statement said that they want to make sure they have the right story before they push ahead with it.

So, no, Blade is not currently cancelled or delayed again. However, I am not saying at least one of those could not happen going forward. In fact, as said above, I’m betting it will. What do you think of Bob Iger’s (and Johnston) statement and the omission of Blade. Does it mean anything when the official slate was just updated a week ago, and Blade was still there? As always, thoughts below.
