Did Kevin Feige save Obi-Wan Kenobi? The question may have an answer if we are to believe the recent report from our friends over at KRT. We trust those guys, as we’ve said before, and vice versa. Anyway Noah recently said on one of KRT‘s shows that they had heard some more detail regarding what happened with the script issues for Obi-Wan Kenobi.
You can catch the full video below, and you’ll want to kick in around the 10 minute mark for this particular discussion. However if you just want the details, jump past the video.
According to Noah, he and Corey had spoken to some they trust who explained how the script changes to Obi-Wan Kenobi came about. Essentially Noah says that the script for Obi-Wan Kenobi was terrible. Originally it was going to be about the Rebellion searching for Obi-Wan. The Jedi Master himself played by Ewan McGregor would only have showed up as a cameo type deal in the final episode. Doesn’t sound great does it?

According to Noah, John Favreau and his friend Kevin Feige were given the script of Obi-Wan Kenobi to read and immediately both had serious reservations. How can you have an show called Obi-Wan Kenobi that doesn’t really feature the character? It would be a wasted opportunity. We know for certain that the script wasn’t deemed good enough and re-writes were issued. We also know as per LRM‘s initial scoop that Hayden was only approached to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi after these rewrites began.
Feige said recently that outside of the Star Wars movie he is producing, he is not really involved with Star Wars. That may be true in an official capacity. However, clearly the feedback of Feige and Favreau was deemed enough for Kennedy to approve a rewrite for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Remember script issues were cited as the primary reason for the Obi-Wan Kenobi delays. We had heard that were were similarities to Mando Season 2 in the original Obi-Wan Kenobi script. Perhaps, that was the big reveal of Obi-Wan himself turning up in the final episode?
LRM is reaching out to our own source on this one to see if they can corroborate KRT‘s story. We will share if we hear anything back. So did Kevin Feige save Obi-Wan Kenobi? I would say that (along with John Favreau), yes perhaps he did save Obi-Wan Kenobi. As always, leave any thoughts you have below.
