While The Witcher and Game of Thrones are about as different from one another as two fantasy properties can be, the comparisons were inevitable. Both are high fantasy series with epic battles; both have high-profile live-action series; and both…well, actually, I think that’s it. But that’s enough to warrant all the comparisons because, at the end of the day, live-action high fantasy is still rare enough on the small screen. 

More recently, we’ve had reports that have bolstered these similarities, with actors crossing over from Game of Thrones to The Witcher. Now, it looks like we may have word about another high-profile actor making the jump. I’m talking about Natalie Dormer, who played Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones.

While it’s not confirmed, there have been some signs of her being involved in the production. According to Redanian Intelligence, Dormer was spotted riding a rose near a shooting location for The Witcher Season 2. Not long after, there was a social media post from a “key member” of the show’s casting department.

“When you remember every day is basically a Saturday on The Witcher,” she wrote. “Bring [crew member] and Natalie Dormer laughing, dancing and riding horses!”

While this does seem like quite the smoking gun, Hollywood is a small, small world, and I imagine there could be a variety of reasons for Dormer to be where she was. That being said, with fellow Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju already signed on, it’s not exactly unlikely that she’d be joining the Netflix show.

As far as who she could be playing, that’s a bit difficult. I’m still curious to see if they plan another cute timeline gimmick for this second season. As such, it’s still difficult to know the scale of the season. Redanian Intelligence points to Phillippa Eilhart and Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia as potential roles, but given how little we know about the story, it’s hard to tell.
