Writer Fatima Shaik is spurred to travel from New Orleans to Khori, a remote village in India, the home of her grandfather, Shaik Mohamed Musa. The Bengali follows Shaik on a moving journey from the city of her birth to the land of her grandfather in an attempt to connect with her ancestry. Though Shaik initially envisioned a storybook homecoming, reality is presented as something quite different.
