The Disney+ 2023 Star Wars lineup has been promoted by the streamer plus synopsis for all the shows. To be fair this is all content we knew was coming in 2023 from Star Wars and there are no specific dates given, bar what we already knew. Some of these synopsis though are new, even if also brief at times.
The shows are listed in a specific order with the first two going by release date. We cannot say for certain this will be the overall release pattern. However, in my opinion, it does seem highly likely. First up, The Bad Batch Season 2.
The Bad Batch Season 2 – Release Date January 4, 2023
When the new season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch opens, months have passed since the events on Kamino, and the Bad Batch continue their journey navigating the Empire after the fall of the Republic. They will cross paths with friends and foes, both new and familiar, as they take on a variety of thrilling mercenary missions that will take them to unexpected and dangerous new places.
The Mandalorian Season 3 – Release Date March 1, 2023
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
That’s as far as the official dates go with the 2023 lineup.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures
Set during The High Republic era, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures follows Younglings as they study the ways of the Force and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi: compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship. [It will be the] first full-length animated Star Wars series created for preschoolers.
This one does not quite seem aimed at my portion of the fanbase.
Star Wars: Visions – Volume 2
Star Wars: Visions is an animated anthology series featuring celebratory expressions of Star Wars storytelling. Seven Japanese anime studios brought their unique talents and perspective to Star Wars: Visions – Volume 1. Launching in 2023, Volume 2 will feature stories from creative teams from Chile, France, Japan, India, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, the U.K. and the U.S. to showcase the incredible animation happening across each country and culture, through the mythos of Star Wars.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, set in the New Republic era, is about a group of kids lost in the Star Wars
galaxy trying to find their way home.
As you can see, the synopsis for both Skeleton Crew and Ahsoka are extremely short and vague, as you’d expect this far out.
If I had to guess the timings after Mando S3, Here’s what I think. Young Jedi Adventures Spring, Visions Volume 2 Summer, Ahsoka Fall and Skeleton Crew Winter 2023.
As content goes, I’m definitely keen on the live-action shows and excited to see them all. Young Jedi Adventures is for pre-school children, so I shan’t be watching that. I will watch The Bad Batch Season 2, as it has potential, though I hope it’s not as full of pointless filler as Season 1 was. Visions Volume 2 is interesting. I had almost no interest in Volume 1 as I’m not into anime. However I watched them all and actually really enjoyed 2-3 of them. If I enjoy that many of Volume 2, then I call that a win.
