If you can believe it, it’s already been a couple years since The Muppets crashed and burned on ABC back in 2016. While the franchise has always been an adult-friendly one, with the canceled series, they may have skewed a bit too far in the cynical direction for most fans. It sounds like Disney is hoping to rectify that very soon.
According to a report from THR, the House of Mouse is set to revive the series for their anticipated streaming service, which is set go live late in 2019. It sounds like they’re still in the very early stages, as a writer and overall concept is still pending.

The Muppets marks one of several high-profile properties that Disney will be utilizing for their streaming service. As of this writing, we know that they’ll also have a live-action Marvel series, a Star Wars-branded series (My guess is the follow-up to Star Wars Rebels), a series based on Pixar’s Monster’s Inc., and a whole lot more.
While we have yet to see any aspect of these projects yet, it really goes to show just how seriously Disney is taking this. Given their size, it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see them half-ass their approach to his, only opting to tentatively dip their toes in the water, but any concerns I had of that are slowly washing away.
