The last time I remember a superhero film in the conversation for an Oscar for categories other than technical achievements was Christopher Nolan masterpiece, The Dark Knight. The film was nominated for a total of eight awards, winning two, one for Best Achievement in Sound Editing, and the other of course went to Heath Ledger for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, for his now legendary portrayal of the Joker.

While we all know that Disney is going to be putting Black Panther up for a quite a few awards, 16 to be exact. Academy Awards, the House of Mouse has now also thrown the hat of Avengers: Infinity War into the Oscar ring. Below is a list of the awards Disney is putting the film up for.

I would like to see a superhero film one day bring home one of the famous statues, ideally for best picture, or director.  I actually think the Russo brothers have a decent shot at Best Director, which would be a nice achievement for films based on comic books. Avengers: Infinity War is in my opinion one of the few superhero movies to rival and perhaps even surpass The Dark Knight.
