Juliana Joel marks the first trans actress on the Disney Channel as Nikki in the fifth season of Raven’s Home.
As an up-and-coming bilingual Puerto Rican actress, it is a dream come true to be on a show she grew up watching.
Her character is Nikki, Raven’s new wealthy design assistant, with plenty of 2000s celebutant and heiress energy. Nikki is aloof, allergic to hard work, and addicted to social media. However, her jaded sense of humor and pointed candor keep Nikki engaged and entertaining to people around her. She often comes up with unorthodox solutions to Raven’s problems, providing a unique, ultimately helpful point of view.
The main cast includes Raven-Symoné, Issac Ryan Brown, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Felix Avitia, Emmy Liu-Wang, and Rondell Sheridan.
Here is the official description of the fifth season of Raven’s Home:
A spin-off of the iconic Disney Channel comedy That’s So Raven (2003-2007), Raven’s Home follows the hilarious adventures driven by somewhat psychic Raven Baxter and her son Booker. He has inherited his mom’s gift to catch glimpses of the future. In the fifth season, Raven and Booker move back to San Francisco to help care for her dad after a mild heart attack. Now Raven finds herself parenting her parent, raising her young cousin, and settling into life in her old hometown. Meanwhile, Book is “the new kid” at Raven’s old high school and has to keep his visions a secret from a new group of friends.
