Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk is rumored for a secret role within Marvel’s Wonder Man series. We shared the news this week that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would be leading the show as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man. However a new report from The Illuminerdi says they’ve heard award winning actor Odenkirk is being eyed for a special role in the show. What that role is, at this time isn’t 100% clear, though the outlet thinks it might be for the role of Williams manager (Williams is a working actor).
Our source only told us that Bob Odenkirk is the actor the production wants for a special role in the Wonder Man series.
However earlier in the article they say this.
Because if you watched Entourage, aside from agents, you know actors also have managers. Which is the role our sources tell us the star of Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk, is in talks to portray.
Neal Saroyan is the name of Williams manager in the comic books. Therefore, Saroyan may be the name of the character Odenkirk is in talks to play? One could certainly imagine a seedy Saul Goodman type. However Odenkirk has long since proved he can turn his hand to anything. Therefore don’t necessarily look at his most famous character to date only.
We also know that Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery is involved in Wonder Man. The casting makes sense given Trevor’s acting chops.

The outlet does state that Odenkirk is still in early talks. Thus, as yet, no role has been agreed, or signed. However it seems clear that Odenkirk is the person wanted by Marvel for this show. It only remains to be seen whether Marvel get’s their man, or not?
As high profile as Odenkirk is, I don’t see him fulfilling a potentially bigger role somewhere down the line. Ergo, I think this could happen. If we go by the comics, and Odenkirk really is being eyed for Saroyan, then the character does have a villainous turn. However, as we all know, using the comics as more than a reference is pointless in the MCU. Marvel have, can, and will continue to make changes and use the comics only as basic inspiration.
