Doctor Strange 2, aka Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, wraps filming this week. Alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Elizabeth Olsen is returning to play Wanda, now The Scarlet Witch. Don’t forget, in WandaVision we learned the Scarlet Witch is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme!
As the wrap party nears, Elizabeth Olsen explained the sequel to Glamour:
It’s a bonkers movie, they’re definitely going for that horror show vibe.
This sounds perfect. Don’t forget the film is being directed by Sam Raimi. His films are always bonkers, and even his most mainstream films have horror elements, whether its Spider-Man 2 or Oz: The Great and Powerful.
I’d also argue that WandaVision is the closest Marvel Studios has come to a horror project. Some of the imagery of the show was pretty horrific, from zombie Vision to drained witches.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron. In addition to Olsen and Cumberbatch, the film stars Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez. It is set for release in November 2022. And I can’t wait!
