As per the title, I no longer expect a major role for the Guardians in Thor: Love and Thunder. Last week I wrote about the fact that both Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff had left filming in Australia and gone back home. At the time, I said within a few days we would probably know if it was just Nebula and Mantis that would have smaller roles or not. This theory was dependent on who else leaves Australia.

Well, now we know that both Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista have both left Australia also. Pratt’s wife Katherine Schwarzenegger shared an Instagram post Here, which shows Pratt back in her loving arms. That’s back in LA by the way folks. Dave Bautista also shared a post saying how jet lagged he was on Instagram, but because it was an Instagram Story that’s no longer available I can’t post a link for that here. I have seen the images however, and I assure you Bautista confirmed he was back in the U.S.

Cut to the chase, this means Nebula, Mantis, Star-Lord, and Drax won’t be in Thor: Love and Thunder a great deal. One would assume that the scenes the Guardians feature in are at the beginning of the story. Maybe they are fed up with Thor, and they just dump him back in New Asgard?

For now we cannot say for certain what the scenario is with Rocket, or Groot. Both Sean Gunn and Vin Diesel were in Australia, whether both have gone home remains to be seen? I suppose it is possible that Rocket, who has the most connection to Thor remains with him on his journey. However, my instinct is telling me no on that one. I figure, without any solid evidence, that Rocket will leave with the rest of his ‘family’.
