Several years back, Tom Cruise starred in a little sci-fi action film called Edge of Tomorrow. The movie was based on a Japanese light novel and it told the story of a soldier who kept reliving the same stretch of time over and over again. And each time, it reset when he died. The movie was critically well-received but didn’t set the world on fire at the box office — mostly because of the lackluster marketing.

However, the film found a little bit of extra life through good word-of-mouth and its eventual rebranding as Live Die Repeat. That’s right. The movie got a title change that I’m still not on board with. Sure, Edge of Tomorrow is kind of generic, but Live Die Repeat sounds more like a tagline (which it was) than a title.

Regardless, in the years since then, Liman has expressed his desire to go forward with another one of these movies, and after most recently not being sure when the movie was going to happen, it now sounds like it’s underway.

As you can see, Liman posted a series of whiteboards for Live Die Repeat and Repeat. But what does this whiteboard reveal? Story beats? As you can see, the only a few key words that weren’t blurred out, including names Cage and Rita, meaning Cruise and Blunt would have to come back.

This wouldn’t be the first time a script has been worked on. By my count, this may be the third draft of the thing.
