Dumbo: Behind The Scenes Look

Whether you like it or not, Disney is remaking their entire library of cartoon movies in live-action. We have three hitting this year alone! The first of which is Dumbo, and it hits the big screen at the end of this month (29th). The movie is directed by Tim Burton, who did the pseudo-remake of Alice in Wonderland. and stars Danny Devito, Collin Farrel, Eva Green, and Michael Keaton.

The video provides some behind the scenes looks at the film and features Devito, Green and Keaton discussing the story and making the film with Burton. Devito tells us that, unlike the original cartoon, this movie starts with Dumbo being able to fly. The story will focus more on the circus family, headed by Farrel, than just Dumbo and his aerobatics. The movie looks very Tim Burton-y and the featurette posits that Burton gets “outsiders and people who don’t fit in” which allows him to understand the character of Dumbo.

Personally, I don’t care for the original. I am not a big musical fan. I do like Tim Burton though, and Batman Returns, which starred Devito and Keaton with Burton Directing, is my second favorite Batman movie. I am not sure if this will be something I see in theaters, maybe if my wife and kid want too, but I’ll see it when it hits home video.
