Dune: Is This The Logo For Denis Villeneuve’s New Film?

While Blade Runner 2049 didn’t do much to inspire confidence in serious science fiction stories being told on the big screen (at least not in terms of box office), director Denis Villeneuve continues to be one of the most interesting voices in filmmaking. I still don’t understand how it happened, but he managed to lock down a good chunk of change for an adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel, Dune. And given its amazing cast, we’ve been waiting on pins and needles to see how it turned out.

While we have yet to see any real footage from the film, there was reportedly an event last night where the logo from the upcoming flick was revealed to audiences. That logo has since appeared on sites like BoingBoing and Reddit.

For those doubting its authenticity, the studio has apparently been making the rounds on social media trying to get it removed, so I’d say that likely points to it skewing on the “real” side of things.

As far as the logo itself, I kinda dig it. It has a simplicity that mixes old-school sci-fi with more modern sensibilities. And can we take a second to acknowledge just how gorgeous that shot is? Come on! How can you not be excited?
