The Dune: Part Three trailer is here and gives us our first look at this trilogy capper from director Denis Villeneuve. The Dune books keep going for some time beyond the vents of this film, but it seems as though this is the final stop for Villeneuve himself as director.

Where the first two Dune movies from Villeneuve adapted the first book, Part Three will adapt the story of its sequel Dune Messiah. Check it out.

Speaking at the press event yesterday for the trailer reveal, Villeneuve said,

“Paul is dealing with the consequences of having too much power, and he is trying to figure out how to get out of this cycle of violence. As an Emperor who can see the future, he’s kind of invincible. But there are people trying to overthrow him.”

“But at the heart, it’s still a love story. The heartbeat of the film is still the relationship between Paul and Chani.”

Talking of Jason Momoa’s character Duncan’s return Villeneuve said,

“He comes back just at the right moment in the story and it’s a very important comeback. Paul is struggling with his identity, and having that kind of strong Atreides figure coming back from the past will have a tremendous impact.”
