Willy Wonka is an interesting, if not somewhat frightening individual. Portrayed masterfully by Gene Wilder in the original film, and then by Johnny Depp is the most recent version of the film. The role seems to come with a certain weirdness that the actor playing the part needs to have.
How would an actor that, at least on the surface does not have that certain weirdness fair in the role?
Well, how’s this for a Willy Wonka casting, a very different Willy Wonka casting, Dwayne Johnson. Probably not the first choice to come to anyone’s mind, except the eccentric mind of the master of the macabre, Tim Burton. The Rock revealed this is an Instagram post you can check out below.

I don’t think many would disagree with me in saying this would have been an interesting casting choice to say the least. As the Rock said he was just starting out back then, but now is a different story. With all the crazy s**t that has happened in 2020, can we please have some really cool crazy s**t happen? Such as a new Wonka film with Dwayne Johnson as the famous candy maker?
I think you’d be hard-pressed to find many who wouldn’t watch this film. If not for the love of The Rock, then out of sheer morbid curiosity. Having said all that, I am pretty sure Johnson would surprise any doubters and give us a great Willy Wonka.
