Dystopian Sci-Fi Short Skywatch Being Adapted As A Peacock Series

Skywatch is getting the full series treatment on Peacock.

You gotta love when talent works hard to realize original concepts for the screen. Such is the case for “Skywatch.” “Skywatch” is a ten-minute short film that follows a pair of teens who hack a drone delivery system. When things get out of hand, they find themselves at the center of a big conspiracy that could mean life or death. It’s a fun little short, and one that certainly has potential to be something more. Well, that’s exactly what we’re here to report.

According to Deadline, Peacock will be adapting the short film for the small screen. It will be adapted by writer and director Colin Levy, who is an ex-Pixar artist. Additionally, his Pixar colleague, Mike Sundy, who he wrote a feature version of the script with, will be assisting in the adaptation process. They will serve as executive producers alongside Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins.

I personally especially like this story for two reasons. First is that it’s an original sci-fi projects. Nowadays, we have so many projects adapted from other mediums. While that’s all well and good, it’s nice to have something original from the ground-up. I also love the fact that it was very much a passion project that was made over the course of six years with the help of Kickstarter contributions.

As someone who has plenty of projects of his own that span novels, feature scripts, teleplays, and webseries screenplays, I get the idea of adapting that idea for many mediums. It’s all about focusing in on that idea and doing your best to capitalize on it.

What do you think of us getting a Skywatch series on Peacock? Does it seem like a good fit for the medium?
