Back in 1988, a little movie called Twins came out. It wasn’t exactly a great film, but it certainly had its impact on pop culture and society in the decades since. Kids of my generation had a great time watching the unlikely duo of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
Though while the film was great fun, it wasn’t really the kind of movie that needed a sequel. But Hollywood is Hollywood, and where there’s money to be made, they will try their damnedest to make it.
With Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito being as unlikely a pair of twins as ever, there could only be one other way to up the ante — have a black man be their triplet in a cleverly-titled follow-up, Triplets. For quite some time, the idea has been floated that Eddie Murphy could be their third brother, and now, it sounds like they’ve locked him down, according to a report from Deadline.
The outlet also states that a script for the film has been finished, meaning that it’s only a matter of time before this thing gets in front of cameras. But is it too little, too late for this comedy sequel? Will Triplets be a worthy successor to the original, or will this be another Zoolander No. 2 in the making?
